SOIL, PLANT AND WATER TESTING LABORATORY (SPWTL)
The Soil, Plant and Water testing laboratory was established on 6th May 2005 with the help of Indian Council of Agriculture Research(ICAR), New Delhi for the benefit of farming community of Thiruvannamalai district of TamilNadu. The laboratory is well equipped with several modern instruments for analyzing the nutrients in soil, plant and water and also to assess the quality of water for irrigation purpose.
SOIL TESTING
SOIL : Soul Of Infinite Life
The laboratory provides information on soil testing, fertilizer recommendation, reclamation of problematic soils, compost preparation, waste recycling for maximizing the productivity by maintaining soil health. It also facilitates training on soil, plant and water testing for different targeted groups
Why soil test is required...
- Encourages plant growth by providing the best lime and fertilizer recommendations
- Diagnoses whether there is too little or too much of a nutrient
- Saves money that might otherwise be spent on unneeded lime and fertilizer
We assist in...
- Soil test based fertilizer recommendation for various crops
- Problem soil identification and management
- Expert advice for soil and crop management
- Analysis with free consultancy for solving problems at field level
WATER TESTING
Testing the water allows conversant approach to address the specific problems of water. It is important to test the suitability of your water quality for its intended purpose, whether it is livestock watering, irrigation, spraying or drinking water. This will assist you in making informed decisions about your water and how you use it. The purpose of this KVK is to provide water quality testing information that will assist to the farmers of Thiruvannamalai district.
Why watertesting is required...
- Regular testing is necessary to determine specific water quality problems
- To ensure that your water is suitable for intended agricultural use
- To help ensure that your drinking water is safe
- To determine the effectiveness of your water treatment system
- Monitoring your water quality is necessary to ensure your treatment system is working effectively, providing the best quality water for your intended use
We assist in...
- Recommendation for water test based cropping system
- Problem water identification and treatment system
- Expert advice for water management
- Analysis with free consultancy for solving problems at field level
PLANT TESTING
Plant Tissue Analysis
Analysis of plant tissues is an extremely useful tool for growers. Not only can plant tissue testing be used to monitor the nutrient status of plants but it can help identify nutrient deficiencies and imbalances. This allows growers to more effectively tailor their nutrient management programs to meet a crop's specific needs. Cost savings may be realized if nutrient deficiencies are resolved before they adversely affect production and also if unnecessary fertilizer applications are avoided.
